Hallo Amsterdam.

This post has been saved for a little over a week, so i thought i should probably publish it as I've been back from Amsterdam for over two weeks now.
I was very lucky to visit the capital of dutch land for a couple of days. I have been a lot of places in Europe, but I'd never ventured to the east before, so it was really refreshing to see how it differs from central Europe. The place as a whole was beautiful. The canals running straight through the city, the magnificent architecture from the Church of St Nicholas, to the Rijksmuseum and even the simplicity of people strolling with bicycles only added to the city's charm.
Whilst there i visited Van Gogh's museum which has the biggest collection of Vincent Van Gogh's work, amongst other artists. Whilst there, there was a Picasso exhibition taking place taking titled 'Picasso in Paris 1990-1907'. This exhibition focused on Picasso's career span from his arrival in Paris as a young artist to when he became a leading figure. It was nice to just be able to see the work of two pioneers in the same museum.

We also went to visit the Rijksmuseum (stands for State Museum..in case anybody was interested!) The Rijksmuseum offers art mostly from the Dutch Golden Age. Here i saw some of the most impeccable paintings I've ever seen in my life. You know someone has talent when you can see the transparent blue tinge on the skin of someones hands in a painting! These men and women were sickeningly talented in their prime. One in particular being Rembrandt, who you may or may not have heard of. A lot of Rembrandt's work was displayed there. He is hailed as one of the greatest painters of all time and when you see some of his portraits you will undoubtedly see why.

I never got chance to visit Anne Frank's house as it isn't located in the city. Soooo, i have to go back to visit there, find the fashion house of Viktor and Rolf, stroll down the red light district once more and do the rest of the things i didn't get chance to do/see!

I did manage to take in a spot of shopping, eating (regretfully not sampling any of the local cuisine!) and came across some rather straaaange things. A Christmas shop placed opposite the local market, V for Vendetta buskers in the middle of Dam square and i left knowing that if you do not move, you really will be hit-down by a man on a bicycle. Yes.
